Amarnath Yatra

Pilgrims trek through difficult terrain to reach the cave, which is situated at an altitude of about 3,888 meters (12,756 feet). Inside the cave, a naturally formed ice stalagmite is worshipped as the lingam (symbol) of Lord Shiva. This ice formation waxes and wanes in size with the changing seasons, which adds to the spiritual significance of the site. The journey to the Amarnath Cave can be physically demanding due to the harsh climate and challenging trekking routes. The Indian government, along with the Jammu and Kashmir administration, takes several measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the pilgrims. These measures include setting up medical camps, providing facilities for accommodation, and maintaining the trekking routes. The Amarnath Yatra attracts devotees from all over India and beyond, and it is a significant religious and cultural event. However, due to the sensitive geopolitical situation in the region, the yatra has sometimes been subject to security concerns and occasional disruptions.
